Devlog 10

Hello again! It’s time for the final devlog on Know Your Wings. Unlike previous weeks packed with new mechanics or sweeping design changes, this week was focused on polishing, final touches, and preparing for the end of our journey.

Let’s take a look at the last few things we’ve added before launch:

Tutorial Area:

Teaching the game’s unusual control scheme has always been a challenge. Our core mechanic — flapping each wing with alternating inputs — is unique and fun, but also unfamiliar to most players. To address this, we gave the tutorial area one final round of love.

We know not every player will master the controls immediately, but this version represents our best effort at creating a welcoming and intuitive onboarding experience.

The Trailer:

This week also marked the release of our official game trailer! Our entire team worked together to storyboard it, collect in-game footage, and edit the final video. The result highlights:

  • The game’s distinct control system

  • Its whimsical yet gothic tone

  • Key visual and musical motifs that define the world of Know Your Wings

The trailer served as both a celebration of our work and a way to reflect on how far we’ve come.

Here’s a look at our original Miro storyboard that guided the process:

Final Polish:

The final build of Know Your Wings may not look drastically different from last week’s, but behind the scenes we’ve made dozens of small changes. Each of these may seem tiny on its own, but together they contribute to a much smoother and more polished final experience.

As a sendoff to our project, we’re including one final image — a title card captured at the end of our trailer:

Although this devlog is shorter than the rest, it carries the weight of everything that came before it.

Thank you to everyone who’s followed along on our development journey.

We can’t wait to share the final version with you soon.
